Bill Nye "The Science Guy," visited Florida Tech on Tuesday, October 23rd. He spoke to a packed crowd at Gleason Center for Performing Arts.
Scientist, engineer, comedian, author, and inventor, Bill Nye is a man with a mission: to help foster a scientifically literate society, to help people everywhere understand and appreciate the science that makes our world work. Making science entertaining and accessible is something Bill has been doing most of his life.
Florida Institute of Technology’s National Public Radio Station, WFIT-89.5 FM, has a new home. The station will hold a grand opening and celebration CD release party for TWITCHY, the Florida Tech president’s faculty band, in its new facility on Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. The just-completed broadcast center is located adjacent to the Gleason Performing Arts Center on campus. The community is welcome to attend the event, which will also feature a concert by TWITCHY at 7 p.m., which will be simulcast live on WFIT.
The Winston Scott Jazz Ensemble performs at the Foosaner Art Museum’s Jazz Friday on April 6. Capt. Winston Scott is a trumpet playing astronaut who is also Senior Vice President for External Relations at Florida Institute of Technology. Jazz Fridays are held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the museum galleries.
Great news: WFIT’s new studio construction has finally begun.
“The WFIT staff is very excited about the beginning of construction on the brand new 5000 square foot facility. WFIT’s new home will house six broadcast studios, including a performance studio. We appreciate all the support and donations of those who have helped make this possible,” says WFIT General Manager Terri Wright.
