This week brings us to Number Eight in the cycle of the nine Beethoven symphonies recorded by Arturo Toscanini and the NBC Symphony for the newfangled high fidelity phonograph records six decades ago.

Also scheduled are some dances from Tudor England, baroque music from Bach and Monteverdi, a concerto by Mozart, some stage music by Schubert, and some Shostakovich and Stravinsky.

Sound Waves host Todd Kennedy compiles his Local Music Top 10.

The cycle of Arturo Toscanini's recordings of the Beethoven symphonies for the then-new long-playing, high-fidelity phonograph record continues this week with the Symphony No. 7 in A major. The maestro's choice of tempi make this one a bit more controversial than the others. See what you think.
