WFIT is pleased to welcome Jamie Tworkowski, the founder of To Write Love On Her Arms this Wednesday at 12:00pm.

TWLOHA began with a story and a simple t-shirt design to become one of the most successful charities to provide help for thousands of people struggling with depression, addiction and pain. We’ll hear Jamie’s vision for hope and recovery.

TWLOHA is holding its second annual Run For It 5K this Saturday in Satellite Beach. Funds raised from the run will go directly toward helping people struggling with depression, addiction and pain.

Tim Renshaw on A Taste of Jazz at 7pm

 Tim Renshaw will be Dave Fries' special guest on A Taste of Jazz  Monday, April 21. Tim is an accomplished pianist with a vocal style all his own and will bring a touch of jazz roots to public radio.

A native of South Dakota, Tim has a colorful history in music from rock to country, from blues to jazz. His style is unique and his jazz is true.

Join us Monday at 7:00 for A Taste of Jazz with Tim Renshaw. It will be an evening to remember.

Bill Kirchner on Freedom in the Groove at 10pm

 Tune in this Friday on Sound Waves for a special live acoustic set with Melbourne indie band Fight The Swing at noon.

Their debut album is set to be released and Fight The Swing has several high profile gigs coming up.

The band formed in 2012 as a group of friends with a unique sound. They name Fugazi, The Pixies and Radiohead as their influences. 

We’ll chat with band members Tone Egan and Andy Wolking, who will play a few songs from their upcoming album. 

 Singer/songwriter Maddy Winer will join me next Monday on A Taste of Jazz. Winer toured as a headliner in the stage show “North Carolina Is My Home,” written by and starring Loonix McGlohon and Charles Kuralt, which NPR aired as a television special.

Performing contemporary selections from the Great American Songbook she has become known for her effortless interpretation of jazz styling and has developed a loyal following.
