In an effort to help keep Floridians safe, WFIT and other Florida public radio stations have joined forces with the Florida Division of Emergency Management to form the new statewide Florida Public Radio Emergency Network (FPREN). The FPREN utilizes the state’s public radio outlets to share critical emergency information statewide through radio, various mobile media technologies, and battery-powered devices.

Monday night at 10, WFIT will broadcast a very special live recording of jazz guitarist and host of WFIT’s Freedom in the Groove, Matt Heister. Matt will be leaving WFIT to pursue new and exciting opportunities in the music world.

Last month we recorded Matt and his NYC Jazz Trio when they performed at our broadcast booster party in our new performance studio. This will be the first live session recording from this incredible new studio.

WFIT will air this special live recording on Monday night at 10pm on WFIT 89.5 FM and streaming at wfit.org.

Guitarist Tom Hueston On A Taste Of Jazz

Apr 27, 2014

Jazz Guitarist Tom Hueston will be a special guest on A Taste of Jazz this Monday, April 28, 2014. Tom is a teacher and very special performer. He was Matt Heister's first guitar teacher and also helped launch the career of Jeff McLaughlin.

Tom is one of only a handful of people in the world who can play bass pedals as the same time he plays guitar! This blend of two instruments in this way will bring a unique sound to his performance. We will talk about his teaching techniques, the physics of playing two instruments at the same time, one with his hands and the other with his feet, and listen to some tracks he has recorded with other local musicians.

Join Dave Fries this Monday following All Things Considered for an evening of the very best in jazz and a fun filled as well as informative set by Tom Hueston.
