Hurricane Sandy: Help Those In Need

Oct 31, 2012

Hurricane Sandy has already wrought extensive damage in vulnerable communities along the coast, including severe flooding, power failures and wind damage. There’s no telling what kind of devastation communities will face in the storm’s aftermath, which means we must be ready for the worst. In these times of need is where the Red Cross steps in to lend a helping hand. The amount of help they can give is depended on contributions from generous people like you.

The Dedication of WFIT 89.5 FM's Broadcast Center on the Florida Institute of Technology campus was a lively and celebratory event. WFIT station manager, Terri Wright spoke as did Florida Tech president, Dr. Anthony Catanese, vice-president Dr. Dwayne McCay and state Senator Thad Altman. Station tours were enjoyed by WFIT's many Broadcast Boosters, the station's show hosts, Florida Tech faculty & staff and the general public.

The evening culminated with a live performance by Dr. Catanese's all-faculty band, TWITCHY. The performance was broadcast live on WFT.

Thanks to the investments of all who donated during our recent drive, over 36 challenges were met. We are now able to purchase 6 CD players, 8 microphones, 3 voice processors and 4 pairs of studio monitors, for our brand new studios.

Thank you for helping us equip our new broadcast studios. We look forward to inviting you down to tour our brand new home.

Supporters, join us for our Broadcast Center Grand Opening, Thursday, October 11.

This Wednesday is the midway point of our 2012 Fall Fund Drive, and you know what that means: WFIT's Pet Challenge!

Call in your pledge of support for your feathered, furry or scaly friend, during Sound Waves, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Tell the phone volunteer your pet's name and species, and we'll announce them on air. Plus, we're keeping tally - will it be left to the dogs or do the cat's have it? Cast your vote, and you'll be entered to win a special pet prize. Stay tuned for more...
