WFIT's 2015 Spring Fund Drive Is Underway!

WFIT’s Spring Fund Drive kicked off Friday, March 6th and will run through Sunday, March 15. As a member-supported public radio station, WFIT conducts two fund drives a year .

This is your opportunity to show support for the music, interviews, NPR news, events and services that WFIT provides as your public radio station.

Renowned Jazz Pianist Lenore Raphael on A Taste of Jazz, Feb. 16

Pianist Lenore Raphael

A Taste of Jazz welcomes critically acclaimed Lenore Raphael to the studio on Monday, February 16 at 7 p.m. Host Dave Fries will conduct a short interview which will be followed by a 45 minute set with Lenore and her trio.

Lenore Raphael has been described as one the most swinging mainstream pianists today. Having been influenced by Oscar Peterson, Bud Powell and Bill Evans, Lenore has combined those styles and created her very own recognizable sound.

WFIT Mourns the Loss of Local Music Legend Austin Pettit

WFIT mourns the loss of local music legend Austin Pettit who passed away quietly with his family by his side on January 24.

Honoring the wishes of the Austin Pettit Family, there will be a CELEBRATION OF LIFE in memory of legendary guitarist Austin Pettit on Saturday, February 7th, from 1-5pm at the Cocoa Beach Country Club Pavilion (off Minutemen Cowy). Please bring your coolers, BYOB. Food available. The Groove Shoes, the last of many great bands Austin played with, will perform and feature some special guests. At 5:47 (sunset) the family will gather on the beach for a prayer.

Weekend Community Events Honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Monday, January 19 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the Brevard community is honoring Dr. King with a variety of events and celebrations. Dr. King was an American pastor, activist, humanitarian, and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement.  

Signed into law in 1983,  the day took on a deeper meaning in 1994 when Congress named Martin Luther King Jr. Day a national day of service

Frida Kahlo Exhibit Now On Display at Foosaner Art Museum

'Frida Kahlo: Through the Lens of Nickolas Muray', opens Saturday, January 10 and will run through March 22 at the Foosaner Art Museum.                                              

This unique and powerful exhibition of photographic profiles provides an intimate look at Frida Kahlo, Mexico's most prolific and well-known female artist. 

On the opening day of the exhibit, Saturday, Jan. 10, the museum will host Frida Family Day, a day-long museum festival filled with family oriented activities.
