On Monday, the full moon will be the biggest and brightest it’s been in almost 70 years.

It’s commonly called a “supermoon.” It’s a phenomenon that occurs when the full moon coincides with the moon being at its “perigee.” That's the point in the moon’s orbit when it’s closest to Earth.

On the other hand, the moon’s “apogee” is the point in the moon’s orbit farthest from Earth.

Cape Canaveral company Moon Express today gained permission from the FAA to land on the moon. Rick Glasby reports it might happen as early as next year.

Uninted Launch Alliance

A United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket, designated AV-064, will launch a classified spacecraft payload for the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office. The rocket will fly in the 421 vehicle configuration with a four-meter fairing, two solid rocket boosters and a single-engine Centaur upper stage.
