On March 6, 1963, John Coltrane and his quartet arrived at Van Gelder Studios in New Jersey to record an album. It was a busy time for the group, which featured pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Jimmy Garrison and drummer Elvin Jones.

On November 1st and 2nd, the nation's top ten young jazz pianists competed for over $10,000.00 in prizes in Gleason Performing Arts Center on the Florida Tech campus in the first EVER American Jazz Pianist Competition.  Here are interviews and performances from the 5 finalists.

Gill Scott Chapman, 24, NJ - “ Being involved with the AJPC will help to accelerate my musical career, while also helping me to achieve some of the lofty goals I have set for myself in the process.”

Joel Greenblatt, host of WFIT’s Exploring Jazz, will moderate the Space Coast Jazz Panel at 10 p.m. on Monday, November 10.

In addition to being a highly gifted pianist, Wilner is also Co-owner of Smalls Jazz Club, a popular venue located in New York City. We will be discussing the revolutionary happenings at Smalls, including live-streamed performance videos and an Artist Revenue Sharing program.
