Sound Waves

Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Since January of 2006, radio listeners on the Space Coast have been enjoying Todd Kennedy’s great music selection on Sound Waves. The show carries a lively mix of contemporary music, independent labels and rock classics. Sound Waves is also one of the few programs on the Space Coast that features live, in-studio sessions and interviews with local and national bands.

Enjoy Sound Waves, your source for new and independent music, online or on your dial at 89.5FM, Melbourne, FL.

WFIT is your source for new, creative, independent music. One of our favorite things about Fridays (aside from being Friday) is all the new EP’s and albums that are released. We’ve picked some of our favorites for this week.

Please Kill Me: Voices From The Archives
Please Kill Me is the story how the Andy Warhol scene during the 1960s morphed into the punk rock movement of the 1970s in New York City.

Sharon Van Etten has released a new song she wrote in memory of the victims of the June shooting at Orlando's Pulse nightclub. "Not Myself" is a gorgeous, haunting elegy, with Van Etten's voice layered over simple piano and a droning synth. "It's too much to take," she sings. "It's too much at stake. I want you to be yourself around me."

The Florida Surf Museum is proud to present “Hobgood- The Exhibit” which chronicles the careers of twin brothers CJ and Damien Hobgood. They are the latest in a long line of champion surfers that have come from the Space Coast of Florida. The brothers grew up in Satellite Beach and quickly advanced in the highly competitive local contest scene. Their competitive drive propelled them to the World Championship Tour circuit, where they excelled for nearly 20 years.
