Sound Waves

Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Since January of 2006, radio listeners on the Space Coast have been enjoying Todd Kennedy’s great music selection on Sound Waves. The show carries a lively mix of contemporary music, independent labels and rock classics. Sound Waves is also one of the few programs on the Space Coast that features live, in-studio sessions and interviews with local and national bands.

Enjoy Sound Waves, your source for new and independent music, online or on your dial at 89.5FM, Melbourne, FL.

Jonathan Rado and Sam France were in eighth grade when they first met and began making music together. Their tastes were simple at first — straight-ahead rock songs banged out on drums and guitars in a garage. But a dramatic shift happened when they decided to take a less linear approach to recording their work.

"I got really into buying cheap, cheap instruments on eBay — lots of xylophones and melodicas and kind of useless junk — and that was kind of everywhere," Rado says. "We'd just kind of play for like 30 minutes, and then chop the best bits down to a three-minute song."

Many albums this year were about loss, yet most are still searching and hoping things will be ok. Here is our top picks for 2016
