WFIT’s 40th Anniversary Celebration Includes “Scribble Central in EGAD”

WFIT is fortunate to have a wide array of local non-profit organizations who will be sharing their missions and projects at the station’s 40th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, April 18 from noon till 6 pm. Among them will be “Scribble Central in EGAD”.

“Scribble Central in EGAD,” sponsored by Derek Gores and Unity of Melbourne,  will present a Saturday line-up of colorful and creative activities, including:

A community Water Balloon Pop Art Dart Painting project (must be at least 10 years old) as a gift to WFIT, recycled CD wind chimes... Design and Color Wave and Sound Wave Mandalas as standalone project or CD label decoration for chimes, Music-themed Origami and Kid’s Poetry.

All art projects will relate to sound... even the sound of silence.

Joan Crutcher, Coordinator and a facilitator of "Scribble Central in EGAD” has been a lifelong student of the arts. Joan is a mixed-media collage artist and painter, a graphic designer for 25+ years, formerly with Florida Tech, and for the last 10+ years, the Creative Program Facilitator and a teen teacher for Unity of Melbourne Youth Ministry. Joan also has a background in child development, having participated in Eastern Florida State College's "Lab School" program with two generations.

Other "Scribble Central in EGAD" facilitators are Kristie Mashburn and Brooke Ashley.

Kristie is a retired art teacher who taught for 40 years in Germany before returning to the states to be near family. She is an Origami expert and brings her expertise with creative projects into play.

Brooke Ashley is Scribble Central’s "Poetry Goddess", an artist with words who lights up the kid's interest in poetry through fun techniques and artistic methods.  Brooke will be creating acrostic sonnets and CD circle poems for this special event.
