"Swells Of Interest" Surfing Documentary Premieres May 31

NASA Earth Observatory

Swells of Interest is a collection of east coast surf footage from hurricane and tropical storms and other memorable swells from 2008 to spring 2014. The film, by Cocoa Beach surfer and videographer Diana Wehrell-Grabowski, features many central east coast surfers.

The film debuts on May 31 at 8 p.m. at the Cocoa Beach Surfside Playhouse. Admission is $5 and all proceeds benefits the Cocoa Beach chapter of the Surfrider Foundation.

Beyond footage of storm surf, Swells of Interest  includes meterological narratives on numerous swells, as well as individual surfers sharing their memories of the swells. The soundtrack features covers of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Emerson Lake, and more performed by a variety of artists, and also includes surf tunes from Cocoa Beach surf band, The Aquanuts.
