The Scott Center Presents Behavior Boot Camp August 5th

Florida Institute of Technology’s Scott Center for Autism Treatment will present “Behavior Boot Camp: Basics on Managing Problematic Behavior in the Classroom,” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 5th.

The boot camp is appropriate for a range of education personnel, including administrators, behavior analysts, teachers in both special education and general education and para-professionals, but anyone is welcome to attend.

Using group lectures, small group exercises and hands-on training, the camp will cover interventions that can be implemented with any age or grade and with any population, in addition to other topics including:

• Identifying why challenging behavior occurs in the classroom
• How to take data on behaviors while teaching
• Determining when outside support is needed
• General prevention strategies

“We are truly looking forward to this interactive workshop,” said Alison Betz, an assistant professor in Florida Tech’s School of Psychology who will lead the boot camp instruction. “We are excited to share our knowledge with people so dedicated and passionate about the children they work with.”

The Seminar Room is on the second floor of The Scott Center on the south side of the Florida Tech campus at 150 W. University Blvd. in Melbourne. Parking is available around the building.

There are 60 seats available, and the event has sold out the two times it was held previously.  To register, go to http://aba.fit.edu. Cost is $60 per person and includes lunch, coffee and light snacks. For more information or questions, call (321) 674-8106 or visit www.thescottcenter.org.
