Promise of Brevard A "Gem" for Special Needs Adults

The Promise Concept

Promise is a long-time dream of many. Our ultimate goal is to provide a much needed housing choice for our cherished family members with special needs. Because every person is different, Promise will have varying levels of support - based on individual needs. With a sense of independence long yearned for, Promise residents will have an inclusive, safe and fun place to live, among neighbors who care. Promise will also include vocational training and employment opportunities with on-site training and continuing education.

We have purchased 39 acres (see it here) adjacent to the Hammock Landing shopping plaza in West Melbourne to build Promise. We will be able to build the housing complex for approximately 126 residents as well as build a hydroponic garden, stables and riding arena for our therapeutic riding program, and full size gym where we can host Special Olympic events. We are also planning to develop a 9 acre “front porch” subdivision on our property and plan to build condos where family members can live close to their loved ones living at Promise. We would also like to offer a first time home ownership program for individuals with disabilities and plan to have transitional housing for some young adults aging out of Foster Care. Promise In Brevard
Community Park

The Promise team has also developed a partnership with the City of West Melbourne and Space Coast Field of Dreams (a nonprofit organization that has built a handicapped accessible sports complex) to build the West Melbourne Community Park. The Park will be home to the Promise Cafe & Bakery which will provide vocational training and employment opportunities to over 40 Promise residents. We are so blessed to have this amazing opportunity for our Promisers to become an integral part of the West Melbourne community.

In addition to a culinary and video production program, residents will have an opportunity to learn retail and property management, landscaping and lawn care as well as organic and plant gardening. Our vision is to have all Promise residents that aren’t already employed, gain work skills that can be used to help them attain employment at Promise or in the community.

Our dream is to have:

Dream TeamThe Dream Team

The concept for Promise has been developed with the help of a special group of young individuals, which, we call The Dream Team. From the amenities to the floor plans, this team of future residents has worked closely with our designers since day one, sharing their thoughts and visions about everything the Promise lifestyle should offer.

There are many ways you can be a part of Promise. You can stay up to date with the latest news online. Subscribe to our newsletter or RSS. There are also many different ways you can help. Of course, donations are always welcome.
