Mozart's Attic Thursday March 30th 10:00 PM

Johann Sebastian Bach
This rare portrait of Bach, by Elias Gottlob Haussmann, hung in John Eliot Gardiner's home during World War II.

It's Johann Sebastian Bach's birthday on March 31st, and we'll be celebrating up in the attic on Thursday night.

Once regarded as a giant among keyboard artists -- who also was a pretty fair composer -- his music languished for many years, much of it lost and most of it poorly understood. Today he is recognized as one of the towering figures in all of western music, whose work is more vital than ever. It's also more popular than ever; he is the favorite composer of many.

Come join the party as we barely scratch the surface of Bach's music with two hours of a wide variety of works by this most versatile of Baroque composers.
