Melbourne Main Street is looking for talented artists with a great sense of design and a love for Downtown Melbourne to help transform Downtown into a wonderful art Mecca! Over the next few months, Melbourne Main Street will be accepting design submissions for a mural contest to drastically transform the Downtown area. Artists can submit as a team or individually and can submit up to three designs for consideration. Promotion's Coordinator Lacey Zimmerman says "We are hoping to not only get muralist submissions, but hopefully a school or art class will submit as well! As long as they can paint their design, they can submit!"
The contest will be open for submissions until June 30th, at which time Main Street will choose 5-12 murals (depending on the final business count) to be placed around Downtown. Murals will need to go through City approval and artists are set to begin painting as early as mid-August. "Melbourne Main Street is thrilled to have a mural project in our Historic Downtown area; this project will showcase local artists and highlight the creativity that resides right here in Brevard!" says Jarin Eisenberg, Executive Director of Melbourne Main Street.
