Melbourne Art Festival April 22nd & 23rd at Wickham Park

The 33rd Melbourne Arts Festival 2017

The 33rd Annual Melbourne Arts Festival will bring thousands of festival goers to our beautiful new location in Wickham Park on Saturday, April 22nd and Sunday April 23rd to check out the hundreds of pieces of original artwork in different forms on display, for sale and up for Best in Show.

The Flamingo 5K Run kicks things off early Saturday at Wickham Park with the nationally ranked, juried fine art show directly following on Saturday and Sunday from 9-5. Features include art workshops, food vendors, beer, cold drinks, snacks, and artists galore. Registration for the 5K is $30. Admission to the art festival is free. Saturday night we will host a free concert with music provided by national and local artists. This year we will also host an animal adoptathon near the dog park inside Wickham Park on both days and Heart for Horses will provide education on how to adopt a horse or help horses in need in the Equestrian area of Wickham Park.

Proceeds raised during the weekend and at the benefit art auction this coming fall are used to encourage and support the arts and art education in Brevard County, awarding Student Scholarships annually to junior high and high school students for art classes and camps and funding other art educational efforts and local art organizations.  The Melbourne Arts Festival has donated over $107,000 to the community.

As far as entertainment, the main stage has a diverse lineup of national and local bands from noon to 11p on Saturday and 11:45 to 5p on Sunday. Our free Saturday night concert kicks off with Fuel on Fire at 4:30 with our headliner, The Artimus Pyle Band; A Tribute to Ronnie Van Zant’s Lynyrd Skynyrd going onstage at 9:30. Artimus is the last surviving member of the original Lynyrd Skynyrd band. Sunday again has music all day and we will have a great tribute to Fleetwood Mac by a band called Tusk at 3. Elementary students typically perform songs and skits in KidsWorld as well as some performers geared just for the young ones, see website for full line-up. There are several arts and crafts opportunities for the kids to make and take home too.

Hundreds of artist will get to show off their work, the Melbourne Art Festival has long been an opportunity to learn about local businesses and organizations from our sponsors.

Melbourne Art Festival is a Not For Profit 501-C3 whose mission is to promote and encourage artistic endeavors, education and appreciation.  The organization and the festival is run completely by volunteers.  To volunteer please go to our website, melbournearts.org we are always in need of more volunteers.  All activities are free (with the exception of the Flamingo 5k.)
