Luminous Landscapes: Paintings by Larry Leach at the Foosaner Art Gallery

Larry Leach

October 18, 2014 – January 4, 2015

Somewhere between abstraction and realism, lie the luminous landscapes of Larry Leach. For over 30 years, he has combined his communion with nature, an extensive knowledge of art history and a love for the craft of painting to create works that, Leach has said, are “parallel to nature and not a copy.” Leach’s love of nature was inspired by his childhood on a rural and isolated Louisiana farm. The technical aspects of Leach’s paintings suggest Paul Cézanne’s influence while his tonal qualities are inspired by George Inness. But it is in the unique combination of nature and history where Leach’s art resides.
