Jaimie M. Engle to Speak at Discovery Elementary School

Jaimie Engle

Local Author Teaches Anti-Bullying Message through Writing

"1 in 7 Students in Grades K-12 is either a bully or a victim of bullying."—http://www.makebeatsnotbeatdowns.org.

Author Jaimie M. Engle will spend the entire day speaking to Discovery Elementary School students about her anti-bullying adventure novel Clifton Chase and the Arrow of Light on Tuesday, February 17th. After sharing, Engle will hold a special session with parents, who told teachers they wanted their children to learn more about both writing and how to handle bullies.

“The timing couldn’t be more relevant,” said Engle who will also autograph books for students and answer questions about writing. “Bullying effects everyone and my presentation is intended to make kids think about the power of their words.”

Her program, which highlights the Common Core Standards to help assist teachers, uses the literary tool of world building to show how an author can build characters and universes with words. In the same way, everyone holds the power to either build up or tear down each other.

Engle is always looking to partner with schools that promote anti-bullying education programs. More information, to purchase books, or to request a school visit go to www.jaimiengle.com.
