Foosaner Art Museum Offers Cool Summer Camps

2016 Art Camps

Foosaner Art Museum's unique summer art camps for kids emphasize learning through direct observation of art and thoughtful art activities designed by professional art instructors and inspired by current exhibitions and the permanent collection.   More info

Each of the summer art camps introduces students to the fundamental concepts of art and also to some of the ideas and practices behind modern art. Our instructors lead activities based on art currently on display in the gallery.

Activities include everything from art making in the traditional sense to mixed media exploration. Each week, campers accompany their instructors on a field trip to the galleries, observing and learning about how professional artists created their work. Following the visits, they will then create their own artwork in the Renee Foosaner Education Center studios.

The summer program is composed of themed camps in the morning with a concentration on specific media in the afternoon. This gives the campers a chance to learn about different areas of art. Campers can choose to enjoy a half-day program or an all-day program with themed camp in the morning and media specific art classes in the afternoon.
