Celebrating the Journey: Florida Tech's African American Read-In Feb 12

Evans Library

Join us in celebrating Black History Month by honoring the works of African-American authors and musicians. Listen as Florida Tech faculty and students join with local residents in reading passages and playing compositions from some of the nation's most compelling authors and composers. Take a literary and lyrical trip through time as we honor such luminaries as Paul Laurence Dunbar, Maya Angelou, Nikki Giovanni, Duke Ellington, and Wynton Marsalis.

Evening will feature readings of works by Maya Angelou, W.E.B. Du Bois, Alice Walker and more, and musical performances of songs by Jimi Hendrix, Scott Joplin and others.  Readers are scheduled to include Florida Tech faculty members Debbie Lelekis and Keturah Mazo, students Xori Deans and Nicole Ward, and community members Jordin Chandler and Marcia Bentley.
