Behold the World's Most Powerful Rocket

SpaceX
Falcon Heavy at Kennedy Space Center

The giant SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket has been lifted to the vertical position at Kennedy Space Center.  SpaceX CEO Elon Musk says that the demonstration flight of the world’s most powerful operational launch vehicle will occur before the end of January.  But before then there will be a test firing of the rocket's 27 engines.   The first Falcon Heavy mission will attempt to launch a Tesla electric car into deep space.

After liftoff, the three first stage boosters will attempt simultaneous landings; two will return to the tip of Cape Canaveral and one will land on a barge floating offshore.  Musk tempered expectations by saying it will be an exciting launch "one way or another."
