The SCPA is delighted to present Alan Grayson, three-term Congressman
of the 9th District of Florida, as he shares his “American Insight” on:
• the present state of our country
• what it means to be a Progressive
• the “Reality” of Donald Trump’s
Presidency
• our role in protecting the
democracy that we all cherish
A summa cum laude Harvard graduate in economics (Phi Beta
Kappa), a Jurisdoctorate magna cum laude, and further educational
accomplishments in Public Policy, Government and Gerontology, he
speaks from deep knowledge and vast experience. An outspoken leader, Grayson
ran for the Senate in 2016 as the “Senator with Guts”. Amber Phillips of The Washington
Post writes: “Rep. Alan Grayson (D) is a figure in Florida politics - and one who
may represent a younger, more liberal, anti-establishment wing of the Democratic
Party that Florida Democrats can’t live without.” In July 2013, David Weigel of Slate
magazine called him "the most effective member of the House" and said that he
was approaching "an unheralded title: The congressman who’s passed more
amendments than any of his 434 peers."
Today Grayson is a politically active champion fighting for social security, food
stamps, Medicare, unemployment insurance and services for the disadvantaged.

to benefit the SCPA just prior to the main event.
We had to cancel Alan's previously scheduled appearance due to the approach of Hurricane Irma. We are so happy that he has agreed to join us for this event in 2018, and we hope that you will join us too!
There will be no SCPA event at the Front St. Civic Center in February.
