2nd Annual Guardian Ad Litem Super Hero 5K Race Helps Abandoned And Neglected Children

You can use your superpowers to help make sure abused and neglected children are placed in safe, permanent homes. The 2nd Annual Guardian ad Litem Super Hero 5K Race takes place Saturday, January 12 at Space Coast Stadium in Viera.

Every child needs a hero, but abused children need SUPERHEROES!
Put on your tights and cape (or just sneakers) and join our League of Superheroes! Registration begins at 7 a.m., the 5K race is at 8 a.m. with a free children's race at 9 a.m.
The 5K race is on a flat, fast course. Medals will be presented to top finishers in all age groups with prizes for best costumes. Awards ceremony will immediately follow the race.

Guardian ad Litem is recruiting volunteers in the Brevard community. A Guardian ad Litem (GAL) is a volunteer appointed by the court to protect the rights and advocate for a child involved in a court proceeding. These children come into the court system primarily as a result of alleged abuse, abandonment, or neglect. The volunteer GAL makes independent recommendations to the court by focusing on the needs and advocating for the best interests of the child they represent. GALs are individuals who respect a child's inherent right to grow up with dignity in a safe environment.

The next Guardian ad Litem Child Advocate training begins on Saturday, January 19th. Time is a gift that lasts for years and changes lives. 8 to 10 hours a month is all that's required to be a voice for a vulnerable child. For more info call Patricia Williams at 321-690-6823.
