Todd Kennedy
Former Program Director, Host of Funky FridayOriginally from Boston, Todd Kennedy began volunteering at WFIT 89.5 FM in 1992 as a late night jazz DJ. In 1998 he was hired as Director of Operations and in 2004 he became Program Director until his retirement in 2022.
As Program Director, he was responsible for formulating the sound of the station. His daily duties included managing broadcast communications, operating satellite services and broadcast automation systems. He was also in charge of overseeing all studio productions and digital editing.
He also played an important role in coordinating fundraising materials, outreach events and underwriting activities. He trained and supervised community volunteers and on-air hosts, and had been seen doing a little plumbing and vacuuming on the side.
Todd’s energy and great passion for music was enjoyed every Monday through Friday from 10am to 2pm on Sound Waves, the show he hosted from January 2006 to September 2022. You can still hear him on Fridays at noon for Funky Friday!
