Todd Kennedy

Program Director / Sound Waves Host

Originally from Boston, Todd Kennedy began volunteering at WFIT 89.5 FM in 1992 as a late night jazz DJ. In 1998 he was hired as Director of Operations and in 2004 he became Program Director.

As Program Director, he is responsible for formulating the sound of the station. His daily duties include managing broadcast communications, operating satellite services and broadcast automation systems. He is also in charge of overseeing all studio productions and digital editing.

He also plays an important role in coordinating fundraising materials, outreach events and underwriting activities. He trains and supervises community volunteers and on-air hosts, and has been seeing doing a little plumbing and vacuuming on the side.

Todd’s energy and great passion for music can be enjoyed every Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sound Waves, the show he has been hosting since January 2006.

Last Friday our musical guest was Nashville-based artist Ariel Bui. Her self tilted album was produced by Grammy nominated Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hurray For The Riff Raff) and is receiving excellent reviews from American Songwriter and others. NPR’s Ann Powers calls Ariel Bui “a psychedelic cowgirl rockabilly queen.”
