89.5 WFIT Radio Receives 2009 Hampton Dunn Media Award

MELBOURNE, FLA. — WFIT 89.5-FM, a service of Florida Institute of Technology, has received the 2009 Hampton Dunn Media Award for broadcasting “Florida Frontiers: The Weekly Radio Magazine of the Florida Historical Society.” Hampton Dunn, a longtime journalist in newspaper and television, pioneered efforts to preserve Florida history through photographs.

Free International Festival, Jazz, Coming to Panthereum for Anniversary Celebration

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Tech will be awash in the cultures, costumes and cuisines of many countries when it hosts the Third Annual International Festival on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009 from noon to 6 p.m. The free event, a highlight of the university’s Golden Anniversary festivities, will take place in the outdoor Panthereum area, located off Country Club Drive and adjacent to Panther Plaza in the heart of the campus.

Sumner Named Florida Tech University Relations VP

The band members are all University of Florida students. Ronnie Pirtle, drummer and vocalist, is the son of Brevard County bass player Ron Pirtle.
