Like being on the water? Own a boat? Thinking about buying? Do you know everything you should to be safe or avoid getting an expensive ticket? Come learn all about how to be a safe boater from our local professionals in Boating Safety, the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. Safety classes are held at Port Canaveral every third Saturday from 8am sharp to 5pm. Get your lifetime Florida Boater Education Card and a good education. This is the card that is REQUIRED for anyone born after 1988 to operate certain kinds of boats. WHO: Anyone who owns a boat, kayak, paddleboard, Jon boat, sailboat, kiteboard, Jet Ski, goes out on a boat, or wants a boat. No age restrictions. WHAT: Coast Guard Auxiliary instructors will present the “About Boating Safely” course. WHEN: Saturday, 17 February 2018. 8am – 5pm. Arrive early for registration. WHERE: Port Canaveral in the IMOC building at 445 Challenger Road, Suite 301, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920. (on the North side of the port) WHY: Because it’s great to go out in your boat and even better to return you and your boat home alive and well. This course is REQUIRED for anyone born after 1988 to operate certain boats. Some insurance companies give discounts for boaters who hold this certificate. WHAT WILL I LEARN? : Boating knowledge that can save your life and, if followed, can prevent you from getting an expensive ticket or being forced to return to port and ruin your outing. Learn what kind of boat to buy, nautical terminology, navigation, boating laws, trailering, tying useful knots, and so much more… It's a great Introduction to Boating and a good refresher course for the experienced boater as well. COST: $40. This includes a reference book, other related materials, a professionally prepared lunch, a US Coast Guard Certificate of completion, and a Florida Boater Education Card.
